Horizontal Tank Setup

Adding the dimensions of your tank during product setup helps Pulsa measure the liquid level of horizontal tanks more accurately. With this information, our dashboard can calculate exactly how much liquid is in the tank at any point, reducing errors caused by tank shape or sensor position.

‎‎‎

This accuracy is critical for detecting and resolving potential problems like leaks and high usage.

What we'll need:

We offer four options to enter in your horizontal tank's dimensions. Our dashboard will guide you through every option, with helpful pictorials of the dimensions requires along the way. Read on to learn about each option, and what dimensions are needed for each.

Where to find:

  • On the tank: Many tank have a data sheet and/ or information sheet on the tank itself listing the information we need
  • If the information isn't found on the tank, this information is generally easily accessible on the tank manufacture's website/ online resources. See the links below to find details on a few popular models:

  • tank fill height - what the tank fills to, i.e. the internal height of the tank, excluding the headspace room
  • unfilled percentage* - the percentage of space remaining when the tank is considered to be full, i.e. the amount of headspace.
  • shape of tank ends - available options: hemispherical ends , 2:1 ellipsoidal ends, flat ends

*Note: If unfilled percentage is unknown, we recommend leaving the percentage at 5%. An unfilled percentage for any tank may vary between 3-7%.

  • total length - the total external length of the tank
  • diameter - the total external height of the tank
  • shape of tank ends - available options: hemispherical ends , 2:1 ellipsoidal ends, flat ends
  • tank straight length - the total length of the the uncurved/ straight portion of the tank

4

Add conversions*

Products can be viewed in up to 3 different units using Conversions. If any additional conversions are desired, they may be added at this point.

Confirm Values

Lastly, and most important - once your product has been created, and connected to your sensor, confirm the values you are receiving are accurate.

  • Confirm values seen on the tank's analog or float gauge.
  • Compare this with the sensor's reported values you're receiving on the dashboard. If both are matching up, your product setup is complete!

If values are not as expected, review the details entered in to the dashboard and correct if needed.
