Tasks Feature FAQ

What are Pulsa Tasks?

Tasks is a feature that allows teams to work together more efficiently and it can be done in one convenient place, the Pulsa Dashboard.

How should our team use Tasks?

Tasks can be used in a variety of ways. One example is for a dispatcher to filter sensors by percentage full. They can select a sensor that is 20% full or less and open a Task. In the Task interface they must assign the Task to a user, they can write a description such as “Fill tank to 100%”, create a due date and add priority for the Task.

The Task assignee must have Email and/ or SMS Alerts turned on under Notification Preferences in order to receive notifications of Tasks that are assigned to them

Where is the “Problems” section?

The “Problems” page has been removed, but Tasks can be used to search and highlight many of the same types of issues Problems included before. Issues that automatically generate tasks and are able to be searched and filtered for include the following:

  • Gateway Disconnect: task created whenever a gateway has been disconnected
  • Input out of Bounds: task created when a Pulsa Link enters a state where it is receiving out of bounds measures
  • Unstable input: task created when a Pulsa Link enters a state where it is receiving unstable measures
  • Missing Sensor: task created when a sensor is missing for longer than 1 hour
  • Low battery: task created when a sensor’s battery is low and requires replacement
  • Custom Gateway: custom task created at user request relating to a gateway
  • Custom Sensor: custom task created at user request relating to a sensor

How do I get to “Tasks”?

A navigation item for Tasks has replaced the Problems icon. Users with greater than “Limited Viewer” access can see all tasks set on a gateway or sensor (users with Limited Viewer roles cannot view tasks). More on User Roles Here.

Once in Tasks what are the three icons in the upper right corner?

The three buttons in the upper right offer three formats for viewing Tasks. By: "Due Date", "Priority", and "List."

What is a Task?

A task is a user or system-created object representing a thing to be done. Tasks are defined for a gateway or sensor and share permissions with that gateway or sensor. Users with the Limited Viewer role do not have access to view tasks on that gateway or sensor.

Can Tasks automatically open or close?

Auto generated tasks for Gateway Disconnects, Missing Sensors, Out of Bound Readings for Links, and Unstable Inputs for Links will automatically open and close when the selected state starts/ ends.

Users can manually close auto generated tasks themselves if desired.

Who is Assigned to Tasks?

For tasks that are auto generated, the users that are assigned to it will be the associated gateways’ location maintainer. If there are no location maintainers set, then users that are maintainers for the company will be assigned the task. More information on managing maintainers Here.

For custom tasks that are created, the user creating the task can choose who they assign the task to. Any user in the organization whose role is greater than limited viewer can be assigned the task.

Can I disable automatic Tasks?

  • Users can manage automatic Task creation on each gateway or sensor in the "Manage" panel on the gateway or sensor details page.
  • Users can turn off/on automatic task creation per task type.
