"Disconnect this sensor" Flow

Choosing the Right Disconnect Option

Pulsa offers two options to Disconnect a Sensor. Selecting the correct one depends on what you are trying to change. In this article we will cover how to access the “Disconnect this Sensor”option on the Dashboard and when the appropriate time to use each option is.

Choosing the Right Disconnect Option

  • I only need to change the product → Disconnect Product Only
  • I need to fully reset and reconfigure the sensor → Restore to Factory Settings

Starting the Disconnect Flow

  1. Go to the Sensor Details page
  2. Open the sensor Manage Panel by clicking the top right “Pencil/Manage” Button
  3. Choose the Disconnect this sensor option
  4. Select either Disconnect Product Only or Restore to Factory Settings
  5. Confirm the action

After completing either option, the sensor and it's historical readings remain available in the Dashboard.

Important: Hiding Sensors and Billing Are Separate Actions

If your goal is to:

  • Hide a sensor from active views, or
  • Disable billing / deactivate service

…those steps must still be completed separately through the appropriate sensor management / billing controls.

Choose Disconnect Product Only when you only need to change the product or consumable associated with the sensor.

This option is intended for situations such as:

  • The wrong product was selected during initial setup
  • The sensor is staying in place, but the monitored product has changed
  • You need to reassign the sensor to a different product without redoing the entire setup

What this option does:

  • Removes the currently assigned product from the sensor
  • Keeps the sensor name, identity, and all other aspects intact.

What this option does not do:

  • Does not reset the sensor to factory defaults
  • Does not hide or remove the sensor
  • Does not affect billing

After disconnecting the product, you can immediately assign the correct product and continue monitoring without reconfiguring the sensor from scratch.

Choose Restore to Factory Settings when you need to fully reset the sensor and start fresh.

This option should be used when:

  • The sensor will not be in use in the immediate term.
  • The sensor will be redeployed to a new location or account.
  • You want to clear all sensor details before reusing the sensor

What this option does:

  • Resets the sensor’s configuration back to its default state
  • Removes product configurations and setup details
  • Keeps the sensor visible in the Dashboard
  • Preserves historical data
  • Keeps the sensor visible in the Dasboard
  • Removes associated Tasks, Alerts, Access, Tags, Images, Notes, Integrations and Location.

What this option does not do:

  • Does not hide or remove the sensor
  • Does not affect billing

After restoring to factory settings, the sensor can be set up again as if it were newly installed.
