Use this guide to quickly confirm sensors that are not fit for redeployment. This applies to sensors that are lost, damaged, or not intended to be reused. Confirming the correct state keeps the dashboard accurate and prevents unnecessary alerts, troubleshooting, or billing issues.
Before You Start
Before confirming any of the states below, take a moment to:
- Check the sensor’s last readings, locations, and activity in the dashboard
- Confirm with your technician, customer, or warehouse that the sensor will not be reused
Lost Sensors
Use when: The sensor cannot be located and recovery is unlikely.
Steps:
- Confirm no recent data or known location
- Disconnect the sensor from it's current product
- Update sensor name to Lost [sensor ID]
- Add a short note (e.g. “Removed during remodel, not recovered”)
- Contact a billing admin within your organization to disable sensor billing
Damaged Sensors
Use when: The sensor is physically damaged or fails troubleshooting and cannot be repaired.
Steps:
- Verify damage (notes, photos, failed tests)
- Update sensor name to Damaged / Not Redeployable [sensor ID]
- Add a brief reason (e.g. “Water intrusion”) in notes
- Contact a billing admin within your organization to disable sensor billing
Optional: Initiate RMA or follow internal disposal process.
Not Intended for Redeployment
Use when: The sensor is being retired, the customer churned, or there is no future install planned.
Steps:
- Confirm no future redeployment
- Update sensor name to Retired / Not Redeploying
- Add context (e.g. “Location permanently closed”) to notes
- Contact a billing admin within your organization to disable sensor billing
Final Checks
After confirming any non-redeployable state:
- Ensure the sensor is removed from active locations
- Verify it is excluded from alerts and reporting
- Confirm billing or inventory impacts have been addressed
